Written in the 1950's and just published, the book is set in Maycomb, Alabama as was To Kill a Mockingbird. Jean Louise, known as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird, is now 26 years old and living in New York City. She has returned home to visit her father Atticus who is failing in health. She still has the spunky personality she had as a child. Her brother Jem has passed away. She takes up with her old boyfriend Henry. There are many flashbacks to her childhood which were fun to read. She becomes very upset with the treatment of the black people and turns on Atticus until her Uncle Jack gives her a new perspective on the whole situation. I "read" the book on CD and it was read by Reese Witherspoon which was a real plus for me.
