The main character, a nurse-caregiver, has many challenges: she is a single mother to an asthmatic (but intelligent and funny) young boy, she lives in a dilapidated trailer park where crime is rampant, and her patient is afflicted with progressively debilitating ALS. Plot concerns her developing relationship with a Thunder Point newcomer, a world-class triathalon champion who volunteers to build her son's strength and stamina.
